IPC System 3 Modified non-stick protective coatings flow during the curing process to provide a non-porous film. This coating has excellent corrosion resistance to many harsh chemicals. It also has mild abrasion resistance and an extremely low coefficient of friction to give a high level of release and non-stick properties.

Polymer Protective Coatings Specific Advantages
  • Resists most harsh chemical environments.
  • Resists corrosion and mild abrasion.
  • Protects the integrity of the substrate.
  • Thin film coating requiring no machining.
  • Unaffected by H2S or CO2 environments.
  • Proven coating solution for over 20 years.
  • Very cost effective alternative to alloys
Typical Applicatons
  • Valves - all types
  • Piping / Spooling
  • Packers
  • Downhole Tools
  • Wellhead Components
  • Fittings

Physical Properties

  • Coefficient of friction - .02
  • Coating Thickness - 1-3 mils / 23-75 microns
  • Continuous Service temp - 450`F
  • Intermittent Service temp - 500`F
  • Tensile strength - 2700-3100psi

System 3 Modified
is a multiple coat system which has been successfully applied and used in the Oil and Gas industry for over 20 years. It is a thin film coating which requires no pre-machining or post machining. The cost savings of using our protective coatings versus alloys is significant. With a positive track record in many harsh environments System 3 Modified can be an excellent alternative when dealing with corrosion that is common to many components seen in the production and transmission of oil and gas and where the need for corrosion protection is required in any service.

IPC System 3 Modified fluorocarbon film coating is chemically inert and solvent resistant to virtually all chemicals except molten alkali metals, fluorine at elevated temperatures, and certain complex halogenated compounds such as chlorine trifloride at elevated temperatures.

In circumstances were end use temperatures are close to the upper limit of 205`C / 400`F 80% sodium hydroxide, metal hydrides, aluminum chloride, ammonia and certain amines may attack the film in a manner similar to molten alkali metals. Special testing is required when such extreme reducing or oxidizing conditions exist.

With these exceptions noted IPC System 3 Modified exhibits a wide range of chemical and thermal serviceability.

Due to the many complex aspects of performance in severe environments, final selection should be based on functional evaluation or experience under actual end use conditions.
